The disclosure, before the table
This page is published by Brain Buddy AI, and Brain Buddy AI appears on it, at number one. So does almost every other list ranking for this search: they are nearly all self-hosted by an agency that ranks itself first. What we can offer is not neutrality, it is working. The criteria, the weights and the evidence are published below, every input is a public page, and the list is rescored quarterly. Disagree with our maths and you can re-run it yourself.
One further note on sources. We did not use other agencies' best-of-Sydney lists as evidence for anything here, because those pages are positioning rather than data. Every line in the table came from reading the agency's own site.
The methodology
Identical to the national list, deliberately. Inventing new criteria for a city cut would make the two pages incomparable, and would look like the scoring had been tuned to produce the answer we wanted. Each agency is scored out of 100 across four weighted criteria, using only public evidence, read on 10 September 2026. No agency paid to appear. None was contacted.
| Weight | Criterion | What earns points |
|---|---|---|
| 35% | Verified execution | Change logs, live counts, re-checks on the live page. Claims score nothing; logs score everything |
| 30% | AI-search specialisation | Dedicated AEO, GEO and engine-specific services, not one bolt-on AI page. Engine coverage counts |
| 20% | Proof and transparency | Named case studies with sourced numbers, pricing and scoping transparency, honest claims |
| 15% | Tooling and monitoring | Own tracking, free tools buyers can use, citation and answer monitoring |
The inclusion rule. 9 Sydney agencies were checked. To be scored at all, an agency had to publicly offer at least one AI-search service line. Several capable Sydney agencies publish no AEO, GEO or engine-specific service and were therefore not scored. That is a scope decision about this list rather than a judgement on their work, and several of them are very good at the search work they do advertise.
The table
| # | Agency | Sydney base | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Brain Buddy AI | Haymarket, Sydney | 94 / 100 |
| 2 | Earned Media | Bella Vista, Sydney | 84 / 100 |
| 3 | Prosperity Media | Surry Hills, Sydney | 82 / 100 |
| 4 | Online Marketing Gurus | Crows Nest, Sydney | 70 / 100 |
| 5 | Omega Digital | Barangaroo, Sydney | 58 / 100 |
Two scores are carried across from the national list unchanged: Prosperity Media at 82 and Online Marketing Gurus at 70, both scored on 25 August 2026. The evidence has not changed since, and moving a number without new evidence would be dishonest even where it would flatter this page.

Where a note says something was not found, it means exactly that: not present on the public site on 10 September 2026. Agencies do work they never publish, and this method cannot see it. That is a real limitation of scoring on public evidence, and we would rather name it than pretend the scores are the whole truth.
What actually separated them
Three things did most of the work in the spread between 58 and 94, and they are worth knowing whoever you end up hiring.
- Whether the AI offering is a practice or a page. Naming GEO in a headline is not the same as running engine-specific services. The gap between those two is most of the 30% criterion.
- Whether anything monitors the answers. Two agencies here run their own platforms, and that is a genuine differentiator: if nobody is watching what the engines say about you, nobody can tell you whether the work moved anything.
- Whether the work is shown, not just reported. Case studies with sourced numbers are good, and several agencies here have strong ones. A log of what shipped and what was verified on the live page is better, and it is rare.
How to choose, whoever you pick
Treat this as a shortlist, not a decision. The questions that actually separate agencies are the ones that cannot be answered from a script: who does the work day to day, what happens in month one specifically, how a change is verified after it ships, and what you own if you leave.
We wrote the full version of that up in how to choose a marketing agency, including the red flags worth walking away from and a fair-versus-unfair contract table. It disqualifies us on one criterion as readily as anyone else. If you want the pricing side, the charging models are in what an agency actually costs, and the national version of this list is at best AI SEO agencies in Australia.
